Since I could hold my head up high.
Na but for real, it has been an incredibly long time since I even posted here. I've been busy studying my little kiwi ass off and have successfully passed my year of Quantity Surveying. One more to go! *roboboogies*
In other news, I don't know if y'all heard but Christchurch, New Zealand was hit by a 7.1 earthquake that was slightly bigger than Haiti's one on the 4th of September. This is my home. And I would not wish anybody to experience something like it ever. Even my worst enemy.
It was terrifying in that you are so completely helpless when it happens. You have to wait it out. And loud. So, so, so loud. It was deafening. Amazingly, not one single person died. A world first for a quake of that magnitude.
We're still having aftershocks to this day. The last one was number 2950 and happened about two and a half hours ago.
Luckily, New Zealand has one of the toughest Building Codes in the world and those strict requirements are shown in how few buildings actually collapsed. Don't get me wrong, the city and surrounding suburbs are a mess, but compared to what could have happened, our buildings survived remarkably well. The ones that have been bulldozed or condemned are mostly older buildings built in the 1950's and 60's.
All in all, I continue to count my blessings in that myself and my loved ones are all okay. We've still yet to have our house inspected as it has some substantial damage, but it's inhabitable for the mean time, and that is all that matters.
